Riverview Military Academy was one of two schools that popped up after the closure of Charles Bartlett’s Poughkeepsie Collegiate School. Otis Bisbee, once a teacher at the Collegiate decided in 1867 to begin a school that would give an excellent education, grounded in military tradition.Anything related to this college is RARE This book actually belonged to Joseph Bisbee , signed a few pages in by sister Annie BisbeeI see : Charles Benjamin Dudley , famous Chemist and engineer , page signed Andrew McGown of Harlem NY, with a note added later , Drowned in sea month of Aug. 1873 ...I beleive this Andrew McGowan, is the great-grandson of Daniel McGowan for whom McGowan Pass was named after ...if so pretty wild story ...Reported an Andrew McGowan ( his father ? ) on March 5th, 1870 was killed while crossing railroad tracks. Andrew was 85 years old and nearly deaf at the time which explains why he did not hear the train approaching. Tragically, fifteen years earlier Benson McGowan (named for the McGowan’s distant relatives) was crushed to death while driving an express wagon at Third Avenue and 83rd Street James Conlisk ...with note Riverview College Hill 1865 ...guessing he went to school 1865 there Great Mormon Autograph , Edward B McKean , The Son of the Ex-Chief Justice of Utah ...Look this guy up great story , seems he was poisoned at a race a friend named A.
