Description: Large Cemi Taino red stone ball with geometric design. About 5 1/4"” diameter and 8 3/8 lbs. Apparently used in communal areas (a batey) for ceremonial purposes as well as a kind of ball game, the rules of which are unclear. Perhaps these stone balls were markers or awards. The actual ball used for the game was more likely made from hard rubber.
