Paid items can be picked up in the Denver Metro area at no charge. Condition:Both units are in "Very Good" condition with minor signs of use and nice, clean front panels. Aside from a few minor scuffs to the cabinets, the only other thing worth mentioning is just a few light light scuffs to the front panels, some hard to see in the pics. The rack ears on both show minor signs of previous mounting. All the original knobs and buttons are present & complete with the exception of the fader caps knob which had gone missing. So we dug into our "Tub o' knobs" and found the new caps pictured. While the upper unit has all four feet in excellent condition, one of the bottom unit's feet had also gone missing, so we installed the four brand new high quality rubber feet pictured, they are easily removed for rack mounting. The manual has also gone missing, but no worries, it's available online or we will send you the PDF file directly on request. Two new communication cables and RCA Audio Cable are included. Please examine all the pictures thoroughly for actual condition.Service:On inspection this unit had sticky trays and would not read CDs. These CD decks also have several known issue that need attention, so it went to our tech for service.Having serviced many of these over the years our tech has learned that, not only does this model have the common issue with the CD drive not opening consistently, but they also have issues with the optics failing and bad capacitors in the power supply! So first, even if working, we always service the CD Drive. Not just replacing the belt with high-quality neoprene, but both the optic blocks were replaced and calibrated, and the carriage was lubricated with non-petroleum based lube to assure long life!There are two electrolytic capacitors in the power supply that were underrated and fail, but our tech took the opportunity to upgrade all the power supply caps! A total of 6 electrolytic capacitors were upgraded to brand new. high quality parts from Nichicon, Rubycon, etc., no used or NOS components!But there was one other issue with the CDM-88. Numark used a "rubberized" coating on the jog wheels that turns tacky over the years that is a challenge to remove. So both jog wheels were thoroughly cleaned with MG Chemicals Safety Wash, then polished with Novus Plastic Polish #2!Finally, the faders have been treated with DeoxIT F5, specifically designed to both clean & lubricate fader controls. It's this kind of thoughtful, preventative servicing that makes it smart to buy from a company with an experienced, in-house technician!Testing:Once serviced, we set this up on our test bench and it performed flawlessly, producing clear, distortion-free audio with no hum or buzz. All outputs, features and controls work as expected, both trays open smoothly and the players ran multiple discs through all tracks with no skipping.
