Description: Purple Fluorite Crystal Cluster Mineral Specimen - Blackdene Mine, Weardale A nice specimen of Flourite from classic Blackdene Mine in Weardale. The specimen has some well formed purple Fluorite crystals up to 17mm. Most of the crystals have internal frosting with gemmy outer edges and some subtle zoning visible when well lit. The crystals show as a rich purple in natural light, and a more muted purple in artificial light. As is typical of most Weardale Fluorites, there is a difference in colour between natural and artificial light due to its property of fluorescing under UV light and the pictures show the crystal under both types of light for comparison (the last 9 photos are in artificial light). The Fluorite crystals measure up to 17mm on the longest edge. The cluster as a whole measures 4.5 x 3 x 2cm and weighs 45g. (All weights and measures are approximate). This piece comes from a from a lifelong collector of minerals who mainly self-collected from all over the world and the UK.
