DESCRIPTION: Hard-hitting masters of their craft, Radio Moscow pump out ten more heart wrenching tracks on their fourth studio album, Magical Dirt. With psychedelic swag, and licks tasty enough to make Jimi Hendrix salivate in the grave, this trio rock from start to finish. A ‘70s classic rock sound is infused with blues and ‘80s hair metal to make for one hell of a new age old school sound; it’s a bit of a flashback to early 70s heavy/hard rock in all the best ways, but their music comes off fresh. The album begins with a back and forth play between the band’s lead axe man, Parker Griggs, and the master of the sticks, Paul Marrone. This builds to a series of heavily distorted funky, yet psychedelic riffs. This gives way to Rancho Tehama Airport, a high-flying powerhouse of sound. The lead riff is something straight out of Michael Schenker’s basement. Every track on the album has a tasteful and catchy rhythm, accompanied by surprises throughout, never quite sure where one song will lead. But one thing’s undoubtedly sure; it will lead you to utter satisfaction, and an insatiable desire to turn it up to eleven, if eleven existed (Proof: when I saw the Litter in 1969, promoting the Emerge album, they introduced themselves and their music as being the loudest rock and roll in the world because they had their amps designed with the top volume setting of 11, and they always played at maximum volume. They wouldn’t have lied about that, right!? There is an eleven out there somewhere?!). The band breaks it down on Sweet Lil Thing midway through the set. This slow and steady track features a delta blues slide guitar, and a nice little change of pace. The band shows their versatility on this as well as the closing track, Stinging. It’s hard to go wrong with an infusion of genres interwoven oh so well. Radio Moscow takes us on a ride through time and space, passing the ‘60s psych scene, the delta blues, and the hard rocking distortion of the ‘70s. Griggs’ screaming guitar propels his music into uncharted waters, a level hard to compete with. A band backed by Dan Auerbach on their debut can only be destined for great things to come. Also an unsealed jewel case may show light signs of warehouse/transit storage wear on the outer surface of the jewel case. If an unsealed jewel case is received by me broken, it will be replaced with a new jewel case before shipping; sealed CDs received with minor cracked/damaged jewel cases will be noted as such in the item’s description and will be shipped as is. ABBREVIATIONS: SS or SLD: Still Sealed or Sealed. Short abbreviation that will appear in the title line of my listings. This item is new and unplayed. Items received unwrapped are placed inside of a resealable clear outer mylar sleeve at the time they are received. GFC or GF: Gate fold cover, refers to a style of mini-jacket CDs. LAMINATED or FULLY LAMINATED: Refers a mini-jacket or digi-pak with a clear coating over-lay or cellophane slick laminent. Fully laminated refers to both the front and back cover where as laminated cover refers only to the front cover. S/T: Self-Titled 2/1: This denotes that 2 albums are on 1 single CD. REMAST: Remastered. More specific sourcing will follow within the item’s description when available. OOP: Out Of Print. MIX: This sometimes appears in my title line and refers to a group's/artist's music having a mix of styles such a rock track with jazz then followed by a straight rock track followed by a psych rock track, etc., as opposed to a blues album with the album's tracks having predominantly one style. XT, XTKS, or #XTKS: Usually in lower case type as part of the title line, denotes bonus tracks on this release (extra track, extra tracks, or the number of extra tracks). ULC, LRC, etc.: Upper Left Corner, Lower Right Corner, etc. used in referencing the area of a defect or blemish to the jewel case or packaging.
