One of my absolute favorite country show is unfortunately one of the rarest. It is called The Ralph Emery Show and was one of the most popular shows syndicated on radio ever. Every day from Nashville, Ralph hosted the show. One of the special parts of this show is that he had one artist or group co host the show with him LIVE IN THE STUDIO. It made for some great radio that has never been equaled. THESE ARE NO CANNED INTERVIEWS THAT YOU HEAR - ITS RALPH AND HIS GUEST(S) INTERACTING TOGETHER LIVE IN THE STUDIO. Because of Ralph's celebrity status of his own, artists gladly appeared on his shows because they knew it was the best promotion they would ever get. Together they play songs of their own along with other artists. There are also interviews with other artists throughout the hour. Ralph Emery, as you know, is one of the greatest legends of country music broadcasting and his shows on WSM are legendary. These shows show up rarely on ebay and I am offering my last few shows over the next month or two. After that they are gone and that's it! The show comes on one stereo lp in great condition (I'd say an M -) It does not come with cue sheets because very few survived the years. The show was broadcast before the days of copy machines in wide use and the cue sheets were in mimeograph which over the years faded and became unreadable. However, you will delight in every minute of the show as you listen and you can make your own cue sheets if you desire. The important thing, THESE RECORDS ARE IN PRISTINE SHAPE. They have been stored very well and look like the day they were pressed. You can't do better. And the music is just fabulous. Remember, when you buy this show, not only will you own the tunes but also interspersed between songs is fascinating commentary on the artists and songs. Also, keep in mind that this and all radio shows are not just about the music - the music can be found anywhere. It is the mixture of great music and great announcing that makes it so entertaining. As well, it is a VITAL piece of radio history and Americana. You just aren't going to find these syndicated radio shows anymore. Most people don't even know they exist! Think about it; did you before you stumbled across this listing??? You are on the ground floor to owning some of the most unique radio shows in history. AND, MOST IMPORTANTLY, THERE ARE ONLY A HANDFUL LEFT. LITERALLY ONLY A HANDFUL. THERE IS NO INFORMATION AS TO HOW MANY WERE PRESSED ORIGINALLY. IT DEPENDS ON HOW MANY STATIONS WERE AIRING THE SHOW, PERHAPS 100? JUST THINK, YOU COULD OWN ONE OF A SERIES OF SHOWS THAT ONLY TOTALED 100 OR A FEW MORE AT ITS PEAK. And many stations just threw them away after airing because they could not be aired again due to the time limited commercial content and the lack of storage space at most radio stations. Believe me, I know! I work at one!! Think of what they will be worth in a few years! (IF you wanted to sell.) I am selling to share with other music lovers what I was able to get at a reasonable price Most people even enjoy the national commercials that are included on the show. Some people buy the shows for the commercials they collect! Either way, it is a great show and would be a valuable addition to your collection.
