This is an original print from July, 1949 of a "Sports Digest for Southern Chester County" (Pennsylvania) and is 56 pages. Sports Digest covered all of the local sports as well as having articles such as this one featuring Herb Pennock. Herb Pennock was born in Kennett Square, PA. Besides the Yankees, he also played for the Philadelphia Athletics and the Boston Red Sox. There is also an article of MLB player Mike Grady, also a native of Kennett Square, PA. Mike Grady was my Great-Great Uncle and this item has been in my family for many years. There are many other Pennock and Grady family members mentioned and pictured throughout the publication that participated in local sports. The local advertisements are really nostalgic and interesting to see as well. I have one other copy that I’m keeping for my own collection but am pretty certain there are no other copies in existence today. This item is over 70 years old, and as shown in the photos it is in pretty rough shape, especially on the exterior (creases, folds,tears, writing) all of the defects are not able to be seen in the photos.
