Description: Almon (Almond) Baldwin Almon (Almond) Baldwin, a landscape and marine painter, who also did portraits, was born in Connecticut in 1800, and by 1814 had moved with his family to Cincinnati. Baldwin started out as a house painter, became a sign painter, then an artist, and finally a curator of the Western Art Union from 1847 to 1849. Baldwin was primarily a landscape and marine painter, but is also known to have painted portraits as well.
