RARE Antique Homer Laughlin King Charles 11" Oval Serving Tray Dish Shabby Chic

Description: RARE! Early 1900 Homer Laughlin King Charles 11" White Oval Serving Tray Platter - originally White with Blue Flowers but now with age staining giving it the classic shabby chic look! This is a beautiful rare piece from the King Charle's line, Antique Homer Laughlin 10-3/4” (considered the 11") Oval Serving Platter / Tray Dish - white ironstone with blue flowers that over time has turned into a beautiful shabby chic piece with the under the glaze crazing and age staining! Perfect antique home decor, rare Homer laughlin pieces, King Charles line collector, or for the shabby chic antique collector! The King Charles shape had a rather short production run. Forty-six patterns first appeared in the 1903 pricing catalogs. By 1905, there were 75 total patterns, but that number decreased over the next two years with 58 in 1906 and 45 in 1907. By 1908, King Charles was no longer listed. Like most other HLC shapes from the very early 1900s, King Charles was eventually overshadowed by The Angelus and Hudson. The distinctive flower/chain embossing was not used on any other HLC shape which makes identification easy. It is generally marked with the eagle over lion backstamp shown or with a simple Homer Laughlin-King Charles script marking. Although the line was offered for at least five years and had an extensive assortment, examples are somewhat hard to find. Condition: Good to very good antique condition. No chips or cracks. Under the glaze crazing and age staining from the crazing makes it a beautiful light brown color. Decal is bright and stands out over the age staining. Minimal factory production imperfections such as sand bumps, glaze pops, glaze misses - all normal factory production. Great shabby chic display condition for this rare antique piece.
