Description: Rare Atomic Midcentury Modern Franciscan Oasis 5” Tall Grand Coffee Mug AS IS *** This beautiful midcentury modern mug measure 5" tall with an opening diameter of about 2-3/4", and about 5" from the back of the handle to the opposite side of the mug. Oasis was produced by Franciscan from 1954 to 1962. This pattern was designed by George James, utilizing the Eclipse shape, Oasis is a heavy weight dinnerware line. Elliptical in form, Oasis is decorated in a 1950s modern motif. It features light blue, gray and charcoal lines, fading squares and asterisks on a white speckled background. Available in fifty shapes, like its cousin Starburst, Oasis represents one of the best of the 1950s American dinnerware lines. Please note that all pieces of Franciscan Oasis & Starburst have small manufacturing marks like glaze skips and pops, clustering of speckles, or imperfections in the shape. These are not considered damaged, but are merely evidence that they were manufactured by individuals and they left the Franciscan factory this way.
