Description: BONWIT TELLER TEAPOT Italy Faience RARE Baffonello Italy Italian Faience Cream ware, inspired by 18th Century Leeds & Wedgewood designs. Beautifully handmade and hand painted is fabulous colors of rose, green and yellow with hand painted Tuscan landscape scenes. The teapot showing an oval body with beading around the top edge and a cascading upward shape. The rope twist handles with leaf attach to body. The flower bud finial and spout decorated in grape leaf design. Marked with a Castle Baffonello in Italy and another mark made exclusively for Bonwit Teller.Creamware dates from the beginning of the 18th Century. Calcinated flint, feldspar and occasionally kaolin and other clays were added to the ball clay that fired white. Creamware was popular betwee 1760 and 1820 replacing salt glazes. Several English creamware manufacturers moved from England to France and Italy in the mid to late 1800s.
