Description: Just Reduced $345 from Original List! Great BUY on this ONE! Scarce! Outstanding 2 Layer Production Cel!!! Don't Miss Out on This Rare Gem!Only a Few Ever Offered on eBay from this Film! "A Very Merry Cricket" Extra Rare CHUCK JONES Cel! Original Production Set Up (2 layer) Cel of "Tucker Randolph Mouse in Cat's Hand" from the made for TV, 1973 Chuck Jones "A Very Merry Cricket". Production # Marks on Cel are overlapped due to layering of cels making them tough to read but appear to be G 11 S 36 (surface cel) & G 11 BS (?) (under layer cel). Nicely Matted with Chuck Jones Official Stamp & COA, From a Large Private Collection of Chuck Jones Cel Works Item is as follows: 17" W x 15" H Matte, Visible Cel area is Approx 12" W x 10" H (NOTE: THE LAST 2 PICTURES IN PHOTO GALLERY are of Other Layered Cels from another Chuck Jones' film For Sale in our Store, but sold separately, namely a Mouse & Bird Combo & Eagle & Frog from "Yankee Doodle Cricket" 1975. THESE TWO CELS ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS AUCTION SALE, WE INCLUDED THEM IN GALLERY FOR REFERENCE IN CASE YOU WANTED MORE & wanted to combine shipping). OK, I guess Cel's from the film "A Very Merry Cricket" are extra rare as one sold for $3,036 in 2018 on eBay and that listing said very few cels from the film still exist. That must be true as we found only 2-3 ever selling on eBay going back over 20 years (but we encourage buyers to research on your own). The $3,036 sale had Chuck Jones' actual signature as well, but while his signature adds some value, it is more in the 10-30% range, not the main determiner of value as his signature is somewhat common. The scarcity of a cel determines value more than anything else. This sharp hand painted Original Animation Production Cel depicts Tucker Randolph Mouse trapped in a stray Cat's grasp. He is caught twice by this cat & rescued twice by his buddy Harry the Cat in the film if you have not seen it. The cel is from the made for TV "A Very Merry Cricket" released in 1973 with story & art from Chuck Jones. This was another classic film by Jones. This film was made just after "A Cricket in Times Square" in 1973 but before "Yankee Doodle Cricket" in 1975 and little before a number of other TV specials Jones produced during this era including three made for TV films by Jones from "The Jungle Book". "The White Seal" 1975 & "Mowgli's Brothers" 1976 & Rikki Tikki Tavi 1975. We have cels listed or to be listed from those films as well. There will also be many Warner Brother's cels with Bugs Bunny, Wile E. Coyote & more. These authentic cels are getting tougher to find as time goes by due to growing collector interest in this collecting genre & hobby. The Cel is as follows: This is a 2 layer cel and is in very good to excellent condition with great display appeal, but has some moderate surface wear, some light scratches & a some old sticker residue (we think) near the cel numbers on lower right, but is still quite nice as shown in photos. We did not try to clean or alter the cel in any way. This is firmly matted & suitable for framing if you choose. The matte itself has some wear to corners & edges as shown in pictures. As noted, this is an extremely rare "A Very Merry Cricket" cel, and being a multi layer set up cel makes it even rarer, you just do not see them as much. The red background is the matting board. We are pricing this at under 1/3 of the price that the other referenced cel from this film sold for. If you decide to buy more than one of our listed cels (or combos) by Chuck Jones, let us know and we may offer a discount on multi item purchases & you certainly can save on shipping by combining. The collection we acquired this work from contained literally hundreds of rare production cel pieces from various works by Jones, many in consecutive series, which we have personally not seen much outside of a studio sale 20 years ago perhaps. This has Chuck Jones' Production, Chuck Jones Ent marks on lower left of cel & a standard COA Paper that came with item when purchased. Chuck Jones (Sept 21, 1912 - Feb 22, 2002) is among the elite of the elite cartoon artists & film innovators in history. If you are looking at this listing, you likely already know this. In his extensive career he created such characters as the Road Runner, Wile E. Coyote, Pepe LePew, & Marvin the Martian (and others) as well as helping refine the characters of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd, Porky Pig & more along the way. Each of these hand painted cels are from an animation artist's hand & a part of cartoon film history. We feel the collecting of Authentic Animation Art is truly one of the neatest collectible genres. Not only do you get a piece of a gifted artist's work, each piece is part of a living history of the movies and films they were used in & they make exceptional display items. It's a bit like owning a World Series game used bat from a baseball player, at least we feel that way. But in this case the World Series never ends as the cartoons keep playing and playing. We have dozens of these original Chuck Jones Animation Cels coming to market in next few weeks (many have sold already). We will sell some in bundles or series & others as individual pieces, but all will offer something special. We even have many in small sequences (running production numbers), extremely hard to find. We have Bugs Bunny, Tucker the Mouse, Wile E Coyote & many characters from Rikki Tikki Tavi, A Cricket in King Arthur's Court, White Seal, Carnival of Animals & more. Please Note: Some image reflection & distortion may be present in pictures as the cel's are a plastic (or acetate) and they have some waviness to them & are reflective of course, especially multi layered cels. (In some cases, we may photograph artwork in different light settings to try and capture a painting, sculpture or other artwork's look in different settings. Therefore there may be some variations in color from one picture to another. The photos are not altered, but may have been photographed in a brighter room, with natural light, a flash feature or other. Also, we try to note any visible defects we can see but there may be wear or imperfections we miss. Please view all pictures taken for your consideration and use zoom feature if needed. Likewise, you can always notify us with questions.) Please Read: See our Feedback & Buy with confidence. We ship with extreme care and all items are fully insured! We often take from 30-90 minutes packing more delicate & odd sized items to make sure your treasure is protected. We also photograph most items above $100 while packing in case a shipper were to ever damage an item (only 1 time in over 2,000 US shipped sales). For this reason, if an item is ever damaged, it will be the Buyer's responsibility to file a claim with the shipping service and we can provide photos from packing to assist Buyers. The process is not difficult, but the timing of such does not allow adequate time for the item to be returned to us and then for us to proceed with a claim (chain of custody questions can arise as well on returned items due to double shipping and handling so it is just easier for Buyers). So again, as noted in listing, we do not offer returns. Of course, there is free local pick up and we can meet to assist if you are near Indianapolis or driving through. We do this often. We require signature confirmation your item if it is above $100, so plan accordingly. We can send without signature confirmation if you request, but if item is marked delivered, but comes up missing, buyer would assume all responsibility for loss, as insurance will not cover items without signature confirmation. Also, FedEx & Others are beginning to require signature on items above $500-$700. Also, we have discounts with FedEx & eBay on shipping which do not always show up in eBay estimates on shipping. We try to refund what we can when there is a notable difference, but we do not know until we actually process the shipping order. Please follow our store if you love rare antiques, primitives and collectibles of many types. We scour the land for the rarest and neatest of items for our Buyers who love them.
