It was there she met her lifelong friend and partner, Ushi Frimberger, forming the tumbling act The Grigory's. Working in cabarets and circuses all over Europe, as the Grigory's and then the Four Whirlwinds, the two girls were discovered by John Ringling North and brought to America in 1954 to perform with the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.While appearing in the ring, Evi told the ladies, she noticed that a sad clown always appeared during her performances and rehearsals.That clown was Emmett Kelly. She spoke of how the two met and began to court. According to Kelly-Lentz, he asked her to have coffee with him.
