Description: This CD was acquired from the private collection of a national entertainment correspondent. Johnny Mathis inscribed the front liner insert during one of their many interviews in his Hollywood Hills home. "Isn't It Romantic: The Standards Album" was originally released in 2005 by Columbia Records. In an interview with NPR that year, the singer described a conversation he had with the record company executives: "They said, 'We want you to sing the most popular songs from the American musical theater that you haven't sung in the past.'... I sat down and finally came up with a list of nine songs that I hadn't recorded that were very familiar to the public." The tenth song on the album, "Over the Rainbow", is his Grammy-winning duet with Ray Charles that appeared originally on the R & B legend's final release, "Genius Loves Company", in 2004. (Mathis was very honored that Charles requested the song be played at his memorial service.) "Isn't It Romantic: The Standards Album" is a delightful treat for all tastes. The styles range from classic to pop and won Johnny Mathis a Grammy nomination for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. Tracks: "Isn't It Romantic?"
