Description: I used to deal in Southern pottery in the early 1980s. At one point I even owned a Dave piece (Sothern pottery collectors understand what I'm talking about). I picked up these miniatures around that time. I have no idea why a Southern potter would make these small pieces except maybe for his children or to sell as a novelty to travelers heading to Florida from the North and mid-west in the early to mid 1900s. (This was before I95, I75 or I85 were constructed) The pot has a height of 2 in and the jugs, a height of 1.75 inches. Salt or alkaline glaze. I believe such miniature Southern pottery is somewhat rare since this was the only group I had come across during my time as a dealer. This can be an excellent addition to any Southern pottery collectors collection.
