The Moomins are the central characters in a series of Moomin books and a Moomintroll comic strip by Tove Jansson. The adventurous Moomin family live in their house in Moominvalley and have many adventures with their various friends. The Moomin team was treated to the new Moomins on the Riviera film back in 2014. The creators have truly stayed true to the characters, the original Riviera comic story, and the spirit of the Moomins. The project that started many years back was initiated by producer Hanna Hemil and she teamed up with French director Xavier Picard to bring the Moomins to life on the big screen. The film premiered in Finland on October 10th, 2014 nicely coinciding with Tove Janssons centenary. The film is the first new Moomin animation in over 20 years and it was also screened at the BFI London Film Festival the same year.
