Description: This set of collector plates is a rare find for any collector of French ceramic plates. Made by Benjamin Rabier and Sarreguemines, these polychrome animal talking plates are a great addition to any vintage collection. Benjamin Rabier (1864-1939) was one of the original French comic artists, inspiring Herge and Edmond-Francois Calvin. His artistic style is evident in the beloved Tintin books. The plates feature both humorous and absurd captions, and are thus referred to as “the talking plates”. The plates are made of ceramic and were manufactured in France during the early 20th century (1911-1940). The polychrome design and French humor make these plates a unique addition to any decorative collection. Set of four plates w display hangers are part of the rare “Le Cochon Trouvé” series. This set is in excellent vintage condition, with some wear on gold plating on the rims. These are almost impossible to find and are a true treasure! 7.75” in diameter.
