Description: These rare vintage souvenir 1933 Chicago World’s Fair salt and pepper shakers are 3” tall and the bases are 1 3/8” x 1 3/8”. Together they weigh 9 ounces. The weight and texture of the metal suggests it is probably pot metal. The metal is tarnished and I was hesitant to attempt polishing. There is no identifying manufacturer name. The shakers are identical. Each face shows a raised image of a Chicago landmark high rise building with an identifying inscription. The four buildings and inscriptions are as follows, beginning with the front face: CHICAGO WORLD’S FAIR / 1933-1934 / TRAVEL AND TRANSPORTATION BUILDING; FEDERAL BUILDING; HALL OF SCIENCE; ILLINOIS HOST HOUSE. These 90 year old souvenirs will make a unique addition to anyone’s collection.
