Description: Up for sale is a very rare, handmade, rope and knot picture frame. I am guessing that this piece is from the early 1900’s. Made from different types of line and colors although the colors have aged. Each corner has a special bit of knot work to highlight the craftsmanship of the artisan. Many of these were done by sailors! Measures 11 x 14” inches (inside dimension) and 20” X 17 ” (outer dimension). Yellowing of the lines and back due to aging and some smoke. See photos. Due to the fragile nature of shipping with something like this, I would ask that you carefully look at the photos and ask questions because I am not offering returns. In addition, I have a larger frame, most likely made by the same artisan. Stay in touch for my listing (photos available if interested.) These came out of a Massachusetts estate with the same aging characteristics. May have been in a restaurant or bar at one point. Super rare find. Note the photo inside the frame is a print and not a painting! I removed it from the frame to show what a real painting would look like in the frame.
