Diana is the Roman Goddess of the Hunt, her Greek counterpart is Artemis, from whom she acquires some of her aspects. The Celtic words dianna and diona, mean 'divine' and 'brilliant' respectively. The sacred grove and sanctuary of the Goddess Diana is on the northern shores of Lake Nemi, in Italy.This spelter figure is a wonderful presentation of the huntress and measures W 6" D 2 1/2" H 6 1/2", she is seated on a Greek ottoman with long draped gown, holding a bow in hand and with a quiver filled with arrows on her back.
