Description: An Early Ladies 1940's Gruen "Veri-Thin" Model timepiece with a Magnificent 1-60 second Center Chapter Reflective Ring with Red Sweep Hand! How this "Nurses Style" Gem stayed in this condition and running is beyond me. She was an estate find and could have spent a good number of her 80 years in a safe drawer. This was No Run of the Mill Timepiece by the way (See Note below). Protected with Its Movement made with "Conoruma; an anti-magnetic proprietary alloy resistant to temperature changes with the additional protection of a GUILDITE on STERLING back cover! *Pay attention to Image #8 (Inside Back Cover)- In some cases, the Caliber and Style Numbers are reversed and this is an example of Reversed #'s, whereby Style# 525 precedes Caliber 211SS. The 211 Caliber was 1st introduced in 1939, however the Style# 525 is quite a RARE Style# and does not show on any charts. Wipe her down clean with a jewelers cloth and gently put her away in a safe place for another day of enjoyment! NOTE; Introduced in 1904, Gruen’s VeriThin (also spelled Verithin or Veri-Thin) was about one-third thinner than conventional movements. The hairspring and balance wheel of this "VeriThin" watch were made using “Conoruma,” Gruen’s proprietary alloy, which was anti-magnetic and impervious to temperature changes. Conoruma was made from nickel, steel, chromium, manganese, tungsten, and carbon. NOTE; “VINTAGE TIMEPIECES BECAUSE OF THERE AGE MAY NEED SERVICING FROM TIME TO TIME. I DO NOT SERVICE MY WATCHES.
