Description: This is a fascinating RARE Vintage Modern Surrealist Figural Abstract Oil Painting on Artist Board, by seldomly seen Slovakian Modernist painter, Jana Meliskova Kay (1942 - 1993.) This piece depicts the silhouette of a lone figure holding up the minute hand of a giant clock, surrounded by a spherical landscape in the center. At the edges, the blackness of outer space, and four roses are visible. A hand signed label on the verso reads: "Jana Meliskova. Time. 1975." Approximately 15 5/8 x 21 1/2 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 13 3/4 x 19 3/4 inches. Very good condition for age, with some light scuffing and edge wear to the original period vintage wood frame.
