Description: This antique Mexican machete/sword is very well kept and preserved. It measures 28 inches total in lenght from tip to tip. There's an engraving that reads in Spanish "Un Chivo Tiro un Reparo y en el Viento se detuvo. Hay Chivos que Tienen Madre, pero este ni Madre Tuvo". In English it translates to: "A Goat bucked and in the Wind it stopped. There are Goats that Have a Mother, but this one didn't even have a Mother." This is what in Spanish is called "dichos" ...."sayings" a very common part of the folklore. The rhyme, literally make no sense word by word, and its made up of two parts, part of the second phrase is a very common everyday expression... "No tienes madre". Its meaning or the idea trying to convey in the whole phrase is : The agility of the goat to jump into the air and stay in the air... which in itself is a great feat. The second " I chivos que tienen madre pero este ni madre tuvo" literally translates: there are goats that have a mother , but this one he had none. The phrase "denotes" someone who is does not care about anyone but himself, no ethics, no scrupples. The total phrase is used when someone has overdone himself.
