READ Sigma Mini Zoom Macro Aspherical 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 II Aspherical Lens

Description: This has been in my family since it was new so it was well cared for but I'm not certain that it's working. I feel like there was some issue with the focus not focusing and not allowing a picture to be taken with the camera. I don't have a way to test this so please assume there needs to be some work done to get this back working. I don't believe there are any scratches as it has had a lens cover on it (not included) and my father took very good care of his equipment. From what I could tell I didn't see any scratches but could this be the problem with the focus?
