Description: This is our spare Rocket Card. It is in perfect working condition • Connect up to 6 RED ROCKET® cards in one system • Decode and playback R3D files realtime. Hyper-accelerated transcode to any system codec. • Quad DVI and Single/Dual Link HD-SDI • Plays full quality realtime to 4K monitor or projector from DVI or HD-SDI output (4K HD-SDI requiresRED ROCKET® BREAKOUT BOX) • Plays full quality 2K/1080P out the HD-SDI and DVI output from RED Rocket card • Plays full quality realtime through system graphics card and monitor • For MAC or PC through REDCINE-X and other applications RED ROCKET® is the original solution for realtime 4K RGB playback and realtime R3D® transcoding. Decode and debayer 4K R3D® files in realtime, decode 5K files, hyper-accelerate transcoding to any system codec. In addition, play full quality realtime 4K to 4K monitor or projector from DVI output (requires RED BREAKOUT BOX). Play full quality 2K/1080P scaled from 4K footage out the Dual Link HD-SDI from RED Rocket card. Downscale 4K footage to full quality 2K and play through your system graphics card and monitor. The RED ROCKET® enhances transcode and playback abilities of R3D files in various resolutions in real time speeds. It will drastically accelerate transcode times for still image sequences and video formats (e.g. QuickTime, DPX, etc) in all Rocket supporting applications. It provides real time, full quality playback, onto a 1080/2K/4K monitor or projector via DVI and HD-SDI through REDCINE-X. Multiple RED ROCKET® cards may be used in one system to boost system performance when working with R3D files. The computer system must meet the following hardware requirements in order to use the RED ROCKET®: PCIe slot that accepts a x16 card, and has at least 8 lanes of data 2048 MB RAM The RED ROCKET can be installed in any of the following: Mac Pro® (2012 model and earlier) Thunderbolt™ expansion chassis PCIe expansion chassis PC NOTE: RED® does not recommend using a RED ROCKET with a new Mac Pro (Late 2013 model or later) because it may interrupt audio playback and slow down data transfer rates for both Ethernet and Thunderbolt. These issues do not occur with earlier models of the Mac Pro. What does the RED ROCKET do? The RED ROCKET is an accelerator card that enhances transcode and playback abilities of R3D® files in various resolutions in real time speeds. It drastically accelerates transcode times for still image sequences and video formats (such as QuickTime® and DPX) in all RED ROCKET supporting applications. For more information, go to the RED ROCKET Installation Instructions. Do I need a RED ROCKET to use REDCINE-X PRO? No, the RED ROCKET is not necessary to use REDCINE-X PRO®. Depending on your workflow, RED recommends using the RED ROCKET because it increases your system’s performance. NOTE: The RED ROCKET debayer differs from the software debayer. How many RED ROCKETs can be supported in one computer? Up to six (6) RED ROCKETs can be used in one system. What cameras do the RED ROCKET and RED ROCKET-X support? Camera RED ROCKET RED ROCKET-X WEAPON® DRAGON (CF) X ✓ WEAPON DRAGON (Mg) X ✓ SCARLET-W® X ✓ RAVEN® X ✓ EPIC/SCARLET DRAGON® X ✓ EPIC/SCARLET-X® MYSTERIUM-X® ✓ ✓ EPIC-M MYSTERIUM-X MONOCHROME ✓ ✓ EPIC-M DRAGON MONOCHROME X ✓ RED ONE® MYSTERIUM® ✓ ✓ RED ONE MYSTERIUM-X ✓ ✓ What is the power consumption of the RED ROCKET? 35 watts RED ROCKET Driver for Linux RED does not supply any software or drivers for Linux support. If the Linux application supports RED ROCKET, you need to obtain the appropriate driver from the company that provides the software. If you are interested in developing your own tools for Linux, sign up for R3D SDK. RED ROCKET Troubleshooting RED ROCKET is in a 4x Lane Warning Symptom The following warning displays: “RedRocket#0 is in a 4x PCI-Ex Lane. The RedRocket requires an 8x lane to perform properly.” Explanation The Thunderbolt is limited to 4x open lane speeds. For optimal performance, RED recommends that you use a RED ROCKET in a computer tower PCIe slot with 8x open lanes or a RED ROCKET-X in a computer tower PCIe slot with 16x open lanes. However, you should still be able to achieve real time playback of 4K R3D® files at 23.976 FPS in full resolution using the RED ROCKET or RED ROCKET-X in a Thunderbolt expansion chassis. If you are still experiencing an error, submit a Support ticket. Why is REDCINE-X PRO telling me that my RED ROCKET firmware needs to be upgraded? If you have installed RED ROCKET firmware but REDCINE-X PRO is telling you that your firmware and driver still need to be upgraded, make sure that the RED ROCKET driver and firmware are both completely installed. Install RED ROCKET (Mac OS X) Locate and open the RED_Rocket_Installer_vx.x.x > RED_Rocket_MacOSX folder. Open the REDrocket_Driver_OSX_vx.x.x.x.pkg file. Click Continue. Read the license agreement and click Continue. Click Agree. Click Install. Click the Apple Menu and select Shut Down…. If the RED ROCKET is installed in an external expansion chassis, disconnect power from the chassis. Wait 60 seconds. Turn on the expansion chassis. Turn on the computer. Click the Apple Menu and select Shut Down…. If the RED ROCKET is installed in an external expansion chassis, disconnect power from the chassis. Wait 60 seconds. Turn on the expansion chassis. Turn on the computer. Install RED ROCKET (Windows) NOTE: Your Device Manager may display multiple instances of Multimedia Video Controller; you can select any of these instances. Ensure that you have already installed the RED ROCKET. Click Start, right-click Computer, and select Properties. Click Device Manager. Expand Other devices. Right-click Multimedia Video Controller and select Properties. Click Update Driver. Click Browse my computer for driver software. Click Browse. Select the RED_Rocket_Installer_vx.x.x > RED_Rocket_Windows > REDrocket_Driver_Win_vx.x.x.x folder. Click Next. If the Windows Security window opens, select the Always trust software from “RED.COM, Inc.” check box and click Install. Click the Start button. Click Power and select Shut down. If the RED ROCKET is installed in an external expansion chassis, disconnect power from the chassis. Wait 15 to 20 seconds. Turn on the expansion chassis. Turn on the computer. Install the firmware file. Click the Start button. Click Power and select Shut down. If the RED ROCKET is installed in an external expansion chassis, disconnect power from the chassis. Wait 15 to 20 seconds. Turn on the expansion chassis. Turn on the computer. You can check the installed driver and firmware versions by clicking the Rocket Settings button in REDCINE-X PRO. If the driver has been upgraded but the firmware has not, upgrade the firmware to the corresponding version. For more information on RED ROCKET, go to the RED ROCKET Installation Instructions. Multiple Cards Installed in RED ROCKET Error Symptom REDCINE-X PRO displays the following message: “You must select at least one board for decoding and at least one board for video out”. Potential Resolution Ensure the following: The RED ROCKET is installed in a slot that supports 8x or higher. If multiple RED ROCKET cards are installed, ensure that one or more cards are installed in a slot that supports 8x or higher.
