The illustration is of an Cattleya Victoria Regina Orchid (tab 85) and is signed in plate by the artist Henry Moon, on stone by Joseph Mansell. Accompanying the illustration is one page (two-sided) of text in English, German and French. All pages are separated by tissue paper. The illustration and text pages are housed in a clear plastic folio to protect the image. The four-volume set this illustration came out of was disassembled by the owner for the purpose of framing each image separately. The image that is listed for sale IS NOT framed. Over time, I will be listing numerous illustrations from the four-volume set. History or Reichenbachia: Orchids Illustrated and Described. There were 192 illustations and associated text pages assembled in four volumes, created by German born orchidologist Frederick Sander. The work was named after renowned orchidologist Heinrich Gustav Reichenbachia. The four volume set was dedicated to Queen Victoria; Augusta Victoria of Schleswig-Holstein, Emperos of Germany and Queen of Prussia; and Marie Henriette of Austria respectively. The plates were created using woodcut blocks, chromolithography and in a few cases hand colored. Shipping - you will notice that my shipping cost may appear to be high. We are only charging the cost of shipping, no handling changes. In order to protect the integrity of the illustration, we ship the pages flat in a 275 test box with rigid styrofoam inserts. The cost to ship one or multiple prints is the same (shipping cost the same for one illustration or multiple illustrations assuming they are purchased at the same time).
