THIS LISTING IS FOR ONE CNC MACHINED REPLACEMENT STEEL EDGE FOR A WORKTABLE THAT WE HAVE MODIFIED TO ACCEPT THIS PARTS. The Delta belt sander work tables are made of cast iron. Cast iron is softer than steel and more brittle. Loose sanding belts cause excessive wear at the front edge, and worse yet, parts that get caught between the table and belt can chip out large sections of the thin casting. Way back when Delta replacements were available, damaged tables were often thrown away.Not the case anymore….tables are hard to find and owners are forced to use the damaged and worn tables for lack of a fix. We have designed a replaceable “steel” bar that will bolt to the edge of a modified table, once we have machined the damaged area from the table’s edge. The machining of the table and the new steel bar is done in a Haas CNC machining center. We remove 5/16” from the edge of the table, provide a landing for the new bolt-on piece we make, provide clearance for the circular key on the support arm, and drill and tap four #10-32 holes for bolting on the new edge strip. The table and new wear bar are then prime painted, bolted together with stainless steel flat head screws, and the ends and top surfaces refinished to be perfectly flush. The new steel edge is very straight and is stronger than the original cast iron edge to prevent chipping like occurs with the OEM edge. This listing is for one replacement wear bar. Study the pictures to understand how the new bar fits and how the top surface is refinished for a perfect edge. We currently have a few remachined tables with this edge bar in place listed on eBay. All of the Delta 6 x 48 sanders we have restored and sold in the last 8 - 10 years would have been equipped with our remachined work table and replaceable bar.
