Rhiannon Art Print Fleetwood Mac Stevie Nicks

Description: This is a history of this Limited Edition Print. ( personalexperience and as much as I could research) linked with my fortune in joiningthis path of history. 1979, Stevie Nicks Dad and Uncle (Jess & Gene) leasedpart of an amusement park called Legend City (including a 2 story old weststyle office building), which was located on the border of Tempe and Phoenix,in Arizona. There they created an outdoor Amphitheatre they called ComptonTerrace, in honor of the late William Edward Compton, a local radio programdirector who had originally introduced Stevie Nicks to the Phoenix airwaves.Jess and Gene then started booking concerts at the Terrace. 1982, I started working across the street from ComptonTerrace, providing security for the local power and water company. At this timein my life I was a Rodeo riding cowboy type who listened to country andclassical music (go figure), and was not familiar with Stevie Nicks. 1983, mid year, it is announced that Legend City (includingCompton Terrace) had been bought and will soon to be the location of a highrise building. 1983, November, the amusement park and Compton Terrace isclosed permanently. 1984, around January, small signs were hung around the oldpark noting a day that the old west style buildings, which made up Legend Citywould be auctioned off. The signs were so small I had to stop on the road andget out of my vehicle just to read one of them. I decided I wanted to buy thetrain station. It was a beautiful building I would dismantle it and move it to apiece of property I owned. The day of the auction only a handful of peopleshowed up. The train station commanded a price out of my reach. I ended upbuying a 2 story old west style office building. ( remember the building at the beginning of thishistory?) I brought my Dad and Brother in on the project of dismantling thebuilding and salvaging the materials. I had 30 days to remove what I wantedbefore construction started on the high rise. We started our work by removingitems from the inside of the building like a pop machine, antique bank tellerbooths, bathroom fixtures, etc. During the part of the project I found Art Prints neatly wrapped. The Prints are 18 x 24 in size, and all individuallynumbered. The Art Prints had Steve Nicks name on them and were dated 10-12-82. Time goes by, decades later I was having a conversation witha friend who was a Stevie Nicks fan about Stevie Nicks. I told him about thePrints I had in storageThe rest is history. Until this time I honestly did not know there would bepotential want for them. I dug them out of my storage and found they hadsurvived all this time in pristine condition. WHERE ARE ALL THE ART PRINTS ? Of the original 5000 Art Prints, the first 214 were missingfrom the Compton Terrace stack that I found in my building. I assume the Nicks family kept some, andthe rest were sold at the benefit concert held on September 25, 1983. He leftover Prints were divided among my Dad, Brother and myself. This may be hard for the fans of Stevie Nicks to take butwhen my Dad, brother and I split the Prints between us, we had no idea whoStevie Nicks was. I, having a smallamount of knowledge of numbered Prints grabbed the lowest numbered ones andstuck them away and kept them safe. MyDad and Brother used the Prints as drop cloths, wadded packing material, doodlesheets, etc. not knowing of the possible value. My Mother actually used many ofthe Prints as pantry shelf paper! I kept all of mine wrapped as a collectible. Most of the Prints that I bought have been destroyed overthe years much to my chagrin. Some of them are not making there way into the homesof Stevie fans.thanks to Ebay. I present to you the original Rhiannon Limited Edition ArtPrint number 581 of 5000. I learned a lot about Stevie over the last many years andmonths and I know her fans will love having a piece of her artwork previouslyunavailable for many decades. One internet site noted of Rhiannon that StevieNicks has many pieces of Art work but that this is the only piece she considersfinished, and that this truly rare jewel was completed in 1982 as a tribute toher close friend Robin, who lost her battle with Leukemia. Rhiannon: A brief history Stevie Nicks first encounter with the name Rhiannon was whenshe read the book Triad, written by Mary Leader. She thought it was a reallybeautiful name. Shortly after reading the name she was inspired to write thesong Rhiannon. Later she learned of another Rhiannon, a Welsh moon goddess, with uncanny similarities. Rhiannon is the Welsh moon goddess and goddess ofthe dawn who is identical with Rigantona the meaning Great Queen. A Motherand great fertility goddess. In the late 70s Stevie was working hard on a Rhiannon filmproject. She wrote many songs for the soundtrack of the film, including Forestof the Black Roses and Maker of the Birds (aka Three Birds of Rhiannon). Themotion picture project never got off the ground and all the songs ended up inher vault and believe never being released. 1998 Stevie was asked about the forest of the black rosesand she said she was saving it along with a group of 9 other songs that shecalls her Rhiannon songs to be released together. Further information aboutthis Print can be seen on Stevies website in her own words.com Sorry I have to say it that way, just put allthose words together no spaces, Ebay wont let me pay homage to her sightdirectly. Condition: The Art Print(s) are in most excellent + Condition.I cannot say perfect of course as they are far from new. There are no bends, cuts, scrapes tears or faded color. They are as they were in 1983. It isimportant to note that the autograph on the Print is a facsimile. What I mean by that is Stevie signed theoriginal Art Work and then it was copies to the Prints at that time. Itemshipped US Postal service in heavy duty shipping tube. The price of shipping has gone up, so there is nothing I can do about that. Thanks for reading my Stevie story.
