Description: RHINOCEROUS "SATIN CHICKENS" (U.S.ELEKTRA) 1969 SEALED! SCOH STICKER ON CVR PSYCH BLUES ROCK Opening with a short snippet of Duke Ellington's "Satin Doll", the same jazzy influences permeate the whole album but are enhanced by contemporary funk and spaced out psychedelia, sometimes it works like the glorified jam session that is "Monkee Man", other times it fails miserably like the dirge-like "Find My Hand". Also, peeking its head out occasionally, is the good ole country boy rock of Black Oak Arkansas on "Don't Come Crying" and "It's The Same Thing". The instrumental "Chicken" just has to heard to be believed and "In A Little Room" drips with fashionable angst and sincerity._Satin Chickens_ is for and of its time and is interesting as a historical glimpse at a musical phase in history.
