To setup your rig with the RIO Skagit Trout Spey line, you do not need a separate running line. Just connect this line to your backing and then add your sink-tip of choice. Along with RIO, we recommend the RIO Light MOW Tips as good tips to use with this line. If you want only a floating line setup, you will still need to add a tip, so choose the Light MOW Tip in the Floating version. The Skagit Trout Spey line is not designed to cast without a tip on it.
