This 5 color lithograph on paper was printed and published by Gemini Editions in 1993, measures 40 3/4 x 26 1/4 inches and is from an edition of 47 with this being a VERY RARE SP edition #6/6 released from the Gemini Editions Archive. The work has the blind stamp embossing “© 1993 RR” following the signature, numbering and date. Robert Rauschenberg (Milton Ernest Rauschenberg) was born on October 22, 1925 in Port Arthur, Texas. He was an American painter, Sculptor, Printmaker, Photographer, Performance and Graphic Artist is recognized as one of the 20th century's most influential and prolific artists whose early works anticipated the pop art movement. . While too much of an individualist ever to be fully a part of any movement, he acted as an important bridge between Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art. A pioneer of the "Transfer Drawing" process, he experimented in technologically sophisticated combinations of photographs and drawings. As iconoclastic in his invention of new techniques as in his wide-ranging iconography of modern life, he suggested new possibilities that continued to be exploited by younger artists throughout the latter decades of the 20th century.
