Rochester Optical Company's most successful innovation, the "Premo" line, was introduced in 1893 and continued for almost 30 years. After an unsuccessful merging with several other companies in Rochester, in 1907 the company was acquired by George Eastman, and became the Rochester Optical Division of the Eastman Kodak Company; in 1918 it changed to the Rochester Optical Department.
