NUMBER OF PHOTOS: 1 COMMENTS / CONDITION: Offered is an approximately 3-1/2"x5-1/2" real photo postcard of Ron Northey, pictured in his Philadelphia Phillies uniform circa 1946. The original photo was taken by George Burke in 1946, but this card was produced some time later (no earlier than the 1950's judging by the standard Kodak back). Comes from a large collection of such postcards that we will be listing over the coming months, all having standard postcard backs but being postally unused. Wear on these, if any, is mostly confined to minor corner and edge wear, but see scans for further details including condition. BIO: Ronald James Northey was born in 1920 in Mahanoy City, PA and died in 1971 in Pittsburgh, PA. He played major league baseball from 1942 to 1957 as outfielder for the Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati Reds, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox and the Philadelphia Phillies. After his playing career ended, outfielder Northey was a Chicago White Sox scout (1958-1960) and Pittsburgh Pirates coach (1961-1963). Northey's son, Scott Northey, also played in the majors.
