Ronnie WoodBritish, b. 1947FollowRock icon Ronnie Wood has cemented his place in music history as a guitarist for The Rolling Stones, Jeff Beck Group, and Faces (with Rod Stewart). He studied at Ealing Art College in the 1960s, during the same era as The Who’s Pete Townshend and Queen’s Freddie Mercury. Wood’s expressive paintings, prints, and drawings often capture the energy of live performance. Musicians—himself, his bandmates, and stars like Bob Dylan and Duke Ellington—are frequent subjects of his work. Wood’s notable patrons include Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, who commissioned him to create a painting of the crowd at London hotspot Ivy in 2003. The work, featuring more than 60 high-profile diners such as Kate Moss, Jerry Hall, and Mick Jagger, debuted at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Wood received a 1996 retrospective at the Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo.
