Description: This 1978 double-album box from RCA Red Seal (ARL2-2626) features a performance of Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle by Kari Lövaas (soprano), Brigitte Fassbaender (alto), Peter Schreier (tenor), Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau (baritone), Reinhard Raffalt (harmonium), Hans Ludwig Hirsch (piano 2), and the Munich Vocal Ensemble. They are conducted by Wolfgang Sawallisch, who also plays the part of piano 1. The double-sided inner sheet has the album notes (written in English by Harvey E. Phillips) as well as the lyrics in both Latin and English. The box has a small rectangular notch cut into the upper left that has been taped over (Photos 1 & 2). The box also shows a small collection index sticker in the upper right corner of the back (Photo 2). Also included within the box is a photocopy of the original review of this performance from the October 1973 edition of The Gramophone. This is one of many titles from an extensive collection of classical LPs and CDs that we will be listing here. All have been carefully stored for many years, played only on premium equipment, and show little to no wear.
