Description: Samick USA Series Greg Bennett Torino. The USA series was a very limited run that was shown off at the 2012 NAMM show, and they likely sold very few of them. This was their high end model, which was differentiated from the imports by the ebony fingerboard, high quality fretwire, and high end electronics and tuners. Specs:-Mahogany Neck with Ebony Fingerboard and Dunlop 5150 Frets, 12 inch radius-Mahogany Body with a Flame Maple Cap, finished with a Tobacco Burst-GFS SBS Alnico II pickups*, Neck: 12k ohms and Bridge: 14k ohms-Gretsch style controls with Phase Reversal Push/Pull tone knob: Master Volume (1 megohm), Neck Volume (500k ohm), Bridge Volume (500k ohm), and Master Tone (push/pull for out of phase middle postion), Switchcraft 3-way pickup selector-Wilkinson Bridge, Tailpiece, and Tuners *The GFS pickups use Kwik-plug connectors, so you swap in any GFS humbuckers without soldering. All Samick Torinos (SG-style) have a lower bout that is moved slighter compared to a Gibson, which improves the balance of the guitar and helps get rid of the infamous SG neck dive problem. It also differs from Gibson in that the neck and headstock are carved from 3 pieces of mahogany that run the full length of the neck and headstock, where Gibson makes the neck from one piece and glues a second at an angle to make the headstock. Samick's method is likely a lot stronger and less prone to breakage. I got this guitar as a new old stock (NOS) instrument that was never completed. It had no pickups, electronics, tuners, bridge, or tailpiece. Holes were not yet drilled for tuner mounts, pickup rings, etc. As you can see in the pictures, it also has no serial number. I'm guessing that its roughly 10-12 years old. You can dial in a variety of sounds using the individual volume pots and still turn the whole instrument down, do volume swells, etc using the master volume knob. This is especially useful with the phase reversal pulled up. Watch the demo to hear the pickup combos with and without distortion. I do not use the tone knob, except pulled to reverse phase, so all sounds are with the tone at 100%. No other effects are used. The guitar is excellent cosmetic condition, with the exception of some finish imperfections along the side of the fingerboard (see pictures). It is otherwise a very new 10+ year old guitar.
