He excelled at designing, building, flying, writing and illustrating - free flight, control line, radio control and boats. He took photos for his articles and processed the photos himself, and his artwork has graced the covers of many model magazines over the years. Cal had a special affinity for racing planes, and the Percival Mew Gull was a real champion in its day. The full size aircraft was introduced in England in 1935-1936 and proceeded to register a long list of race wins. The model is scaled at 1-1/4" to the foot.
