Description: 1996 Dubai World Cup Souvenir Magazine from the inaugural running of the race. The $4,000,000 purse was a pretty big deal at the time, making it the world’s richest race for thoroughbreds! It attracted CIGAR, Jerry Bailey, Bill Mott and Allen Paulson which turned out to be the winning combination. CIGAR was all the rage in the sport at the time and he didn’t let anyone down! The magazine is 84 pages, done in both English and Aribic and they spared no expense with glossy pages and covers. Very few of these made it back to the U.S. and they rarely turn up. It has photos and a bio of all DWC entries, articles on the race, Godolphin, the incredible trophy, etc. Included in the magazine is a removable tri-fold insert that shows the racing grounds with map and key for visitors. Front page of the insert shows the opulent winner’s trophy. Pretty classy, even by today’s standards. Unique item from a race that has become very coveted and an international success story. Alumni includes: CIGAR, SILVER CHARM, STREET CRY, INVASOR, CURLIN, CALIFORNIA CHROME, ARROGATE, etc., etc. Condition is very good with minimal cover flaws. 3 page insert has very light soiling. Not perfect, but very presentable. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- High bidder pays $6.99 for shipping, and shipping costs are always reduced if you are successful in more than one of my auctions.
