Description: Beyond Rare! This could be the only one in this style that exists outside of private collections, but please do your own research. Me? I'm a regular fuss-budget! Pullman Travel Car Poster, Circa 1947Professionally Framed & Matted, Approx: Framed 28.25" H x 22.25" W, 8.25 lbsVisible portion is approx: 23.5" H x 17.5 W, original poster is likely 26.5" x 21"Just Reduced! Note: This sale is for the one poster only (of the Lady at sink), not both shown in video. Both are listed separately in our store at the same price. We included for both reference. If you buy both, we can bundle for shipping but let us know before paying. This poster is extremely rare, we looked for days & could find a only a single record of this exact (Lady at a sink in train car) travel poster sold at any auction, on eBay or other sale sites going back 25 years. That poster was from a private collection and stated the poster was from 1947 and that seems accurate based on the elements of the piece and the style of the more common magazine ads from that time. There are some earlier Art Deco Style Pullman posters (selling into the thousands) and some vacation targeted themes and many from Europe, but none showing up in years like the two we have listed in separate auctions. This is printed on a heavy stock paper as noted and most likley made for display in a railroad station, travel agency or other. The poster has an amazing Mid Century Americana look with a lady at a train car sink, very sharp images & good art work (we think artist may be named Jacobson based on signature but that is a guess). The poster surface is in exceptional shape for the age and in almost new condition from all we can see. The surface of the poster still has the original sheen. When we removed the frame backing to see how the poster was mounted and to make sure the piece was authentic, it was in pretty nice shape, but had a couple of spots where old tape may have been near top and a few minor marks but nothing effecting it materially and having no impact on poster's appeal of course. If you look at the mounting area in photo gallery you can kind of see the thick stock paper it was produced on. Quite remarkable this has survived as so few paper and cardboard items have from this era. This was professionally framed by a noted framing company in Indiana years back and held by a collector. Frame is solid with just a few minor scuffs around edges. There is a small piece of glass missing near top left in of poster framing, but you almost have to look for it, we only noticed when prepping for pictures, but we wanted to note it. Please look at all pictures taken for your consideration and use zoom if needed. Due to the item's scarcity, we are pricing based on what limited information is available on items from era of similar rarity and quality, yet starting at under what we feel fair market may really be. The art deco (1930's) posters from Pullman can go well into the thousands as you may know, but frankly, although not as old, this is more scarce. We have two of these from same collector, but different themes (one with a lady and the other with a professional baseball player). They are so nice, we wonder if they were ever displayed or if so, they must have been covered at that time. Please Note: We photograph & video artwork in different light settings to try and capture a painting, sculpture or other artwork's look in different settings. Therefore there may be some variations in color from one picture to another. The photos are not altered, but may have been photographed in a brighter room, with natural light, a flash feature or other. Videos tend to shoot a little darker than actual appearance. Also, we try to note any visible defects we can see but there may be wear or imperfections we miss. Please view all pictures taken for your consideration and use zoom feature if needed. Likewise, you can always notify us with questions. Please Read: See our Feedback & Buy with confidence. We ship with extreme care and all items are fully insured! We often take from 30-90 minutes packing more delicate & odd sized items to make sure your treasure is protected. We also photograph most items above $100 while packing in case a shipper were to ever damage an item (only 1 time in over 2,000 US shipped sales). For this reason, if an item is ever damaged, it will be the Buyer's responsibility to file a claim with the shipping service and we can provide photos from packing to assist Buyers. The process is not difficult, but the timing of such does not allow adequate time for the item to be returned to us and then for us to proceed with a claim (chain of custody questions can arise as well on returned items due to double shipping and handling so it is just easier for Buyers). So again, as noted in listing, we do not offer returns. Sales tax is charged according to your state or country's regulations. Of course, there is free local pick up and we can meet to assist if you are near Indianapolis or driving through. We do this often. All items above $100 will require signature upon delivery unless you request otherwise, so please plan accordingly. We do not charge extra for it. If you do not want signature at delivery, we can make an exception, but be aware if an item's tracking number shows items is delivered but it is stolen or goes missing from your location (porch, lobby or other) FedEx & Others will not insure package and you will be responsible for loss. Some services are beginning to require signature on items above $500-$700 as well. Also, we have discounts with FedEx & eBay on shipping which do not always show up in eBay estimates on shipping. We try to refund what we can when there is a notable difference, but we do not know until we actually process the shipping order.
