Me: So if you don't know Domenico Scarlatti or his sonatas, it may seem like a ridiculous number and you may well think, 'How could anyone write that many keyboard pieces and not repeat himself?' Good question. The honest truth is, like any such body of work, some of the sonatas sound like contractual obligations. The overall sonata form in Scarlatti's hands is a fairly standard thing. That said, I assure you it is absolutely astonishing how much life and interest and variety and invention the composer put into these pieces. THEY DO NOT BORE. In addition to the source material, Scott Ross used several different harpsichords to perform these pieces (and any upscale harpsichord has multiple keyboards and some manual settings to change the tone), so the overall sound changes from piece to piece—Mr. Ross picked the instrument he thought most appropriate to each sonata. Most of the discs in this set have been played no more than once. CD grading is VG++. The box shows some stress from moving and storage. The release year is 2005. The run time is 2,062 minutes. This classical and instrumental collection is perfect for music lovers who appreciate the works of Italian composers.
