The custom-wound pickups are a bit hotter than you'd find on a vintage "S"-style guitar. It's got enough body to the sound that you can turn up the distortion without worrying about sounding muddy. They clean up gorgeously as well, and can definitely achieve warmer and more traditional tones with ease.
