Description: 3441-2023) Sedalia Lanceolate made of a gray white and brown colored chert pebble conglomerate. This beautiful specimen measures at 3 11/16” x 1 ¼” x ½” and has bifacial percussion followed by several stages of direct pressure flaking resulting in a sturdy balanced point with a specialized chisel tip. It is in good condition with typical ancient use wear with a rich-patinated luster and abundant iron manganese mineral deposits. Solid G7 Quality, the lithic is essentially an ancient natural formed concrete except that the binding material is white colored chert and given eons of time compressed the mass into fine grained material. Uncommon to see artifacts made of this material and it is beautiful with the ‘pebbles’ in the stone matrix filled with brown, gray, and tan flint. Was found on private property by Bill MacLaren in Morgan County, Missouri, x Dan Peeler Collection.
