Description: This is a rare assorted set of antique historical small glass seed beads which were excavated from the site of the Fort Harney Massacre in Florida. The largest antique glass bead of the set measures 2.30mm long by 2.86mm wide. These are small beads! Be sure to review these measurements and use a caliper to understand bead size before buying. LT. Col. William S. Horner and thirty of his men were on duty at Fort Harney which also operated as a trading post when they were attacked by Chief Holatamico also known as Billey Bowlegs of the Seminole tribe, with two hundred tribal warriors on July 22nd, 1839. The Fort was burned to the ground and most of the soldiers were slaughtered in the battle. This beads are tiny but they are amazing small pieces of American Florida History! A must for any advanced bead collector this antique bead set is in great rustic overall condition with some wear.
