Description: These are original Willcox and Gibbs sewing machine needles. They are 1 & 7\16 inches long. They say "High Speed" on the box; they may fit the chain stitch machines or lockstitch. I don't know. They look like they are industrial. Make sure you measure the length of your current needles if you intend to use these on your machine. They have a groove lengthwise down the shank. Label says "Chrome Plate." The shank is round except for the groove. The numbers on the case are embossed on each and every individual needle: "581-30." Also, embossed on the needles is "W&G." See photos for further info and condition of box. Box has wear and tear but closes tightly; the part of the label that goes across the top of the box is torn off and missing. Box says 100, but only has 20 needles. Included are 20 needles and box with original Willcox and Gibbs label. I can't speak to what weight of fabric you would use with these needles. I have more needles that say "581-35" on the box and they are thicker needles. These needles respond to a magnet. I don't know when these needles were made. The plastic box seems to be of a later date. Willcox and Gibbs was selling industrial, commercial machines, I believe, into the 1970's.
