Description: Flat square polished slice of Seymchan meteorite found in June of 1967 near Seymchan village in Magadan province, Russia. This slice is of pure metal variety with beautifully displayed Widmanstätten patterns (also known as Thomson structures) - this latticework is indicative of a slow cooling rate that provided sufficient time for nickel-iron crystals to form their intricate intergrowth. Seymchan meteorites are renowned for some of the most robust crystalline patterns seen and is considered a stable and rust-resistant pallasite. Beautiful surface, very pleasant to handle. Size 1.11 inches square, 0.1 inches thick, weight 15.82 grams.
