Description: Offered is the antique book "Showboat", written by Edna Ferber and published by Doubleday, Page & Co. in Garden City, New York. The book, the basis for the famous musical, has a 1926 copyright date and appears to be a first edition. The book is approx. 7 1/2" x 5" and contains 398 pages. It is in fair to good condition. The yellow hard cover has light to moderate wear, mainly on the corners, bottom front edge and the back edge of the spine. There is some light soiling. The black words on the spine and front are still almost entirely intact. There is no cracking inside either the front or back cover. The picture endpapers are clean. I see no missing or torn pages, but the last page is partially loose; all of the other pages are fairly well-attached to the binding. The pages have yellowed, with some occasional light foxing, but they are mostly clean and clear. I see no writing in the book except for a former owner's name, written in pencil on the Introduction page. I have a lot of experience with vintage and antique books but am not an expert so please let me know if my description is missing information and you have additional questions.
