Description: Blueberry, A Boat of the Connecticut Shoreline, written and illustrated by David Hume (1928-2015), is a 109 page, 6 1/4 X 9 1/2 inch hardcover book published by J. N. Townsend Publishing, New Hampshire. The copyright date is 1994 and this is a 1995 second edition, as stated on the copyright page. The author signed the first free endpaper and wrote: "For Dick Rorick May the wind and tide continue favoring your cause." The book is in near fine condition in a very good unclipped dustjacket, with black cloth boards, gilt titles, and map-illustrated endpapers. Synopsis - This is a memoir of a dream fulfilled: building a small boat and sailing the waters of the Connecticut River and Connecticut coast. Hume, who designed and built his gaffer, Blueberry, over a period of seven years, tells how he set and accomplished his personal goal and reaped the rewards. The book includes Hume's correspondence with naval architect Philip Bolger, who provided the author with expert advice during the project. Illustrated throughout with building plans and black and white drawings. Includes a glossary of sailing/boat terms. Condition Details - The book has a square spine, a tight binding, and no marks, tears or writing, aside from the inscription noted above. The cover has no edgewear, soil or stains. The glossy dustjacket (in new, protective Brodart) has very light edgewear and mild rubwear, no chips or tears. There is a mild waterstain on the interior of the dustjacket's front panel.
