Description: Six vintage signed photographs of vaudeville & Ziegfeld Follies actresses. Unfortunately, I was unable to find out much of anything about the sitters. Perhaps you can succeed where I failed. However, I was able to determine the gentleman to whom they were given. The inscriptions: To "Van" The one& only - with loveAlwaysMarie(NOTE: This photograph is stuck to the glass.) To My Van,FromLou. For VanWith Lots of Good WishesSincerelyMuriel Ostriche (sp?) To Van - A regular FellowVera ForbesFollies 1920(NOTE: References to this actress can be found in both 1920 & 1921 stage productions of the Ziegfeld Follies. This photograph is stuck to the glass.) To Mr Van SchaickWith sincere wishesAlma Tell Harrison Van Schaick: His obituary was published in the May 27, 1932 edition of the Chicago Tribune. He was involved in horse & dog breeding. His maternal grandfather was Wisconsin Governor Harrison Ludington. His apartment at 50 West Schiller Street was featured in the Chicago Tribune in a 1928 "Chicago Homes" piece. It states, "The Van Schaick duplex apartment is the last word in luxurious and elegant bachelor quarters." Note that his obituary lists a wife but this write-up about his apartment refers to him as a bachelor. Apparently he & his wife were estranged. Makes sense since he was always chasing showgirls for their autographs!
