Description: This listing is for one pair of new-old stock shoulder boards. In this case, 17 centimeter boards for wear on a Soviet military jacket or overcoat. These are very rare boards, as the ciphers were only painted on for a short time before the factories began making them with vinyl ciphers. They can be worn on the peacoat, or even some Army uniforms, as they were sometimes worn with Navy boards by coastal artillery personnel and so on. The picture I found shows a man wearing painted ciphers on red insignia, but from what I could find trolling through Russian collector forums, the color used varied from unit to unit. To attach them, please see the guide in the pictures. Sew only the long edges down, with black thread. How do you know what size you need? Simply measure your shirt from the shoulder seam to the collar seam. That said, you have a bit of leeway here, and in many cases the size does not need to match exactly. These would also look cool on plenty of other clothing of course! These boards were made in the former Soviet Union, but were never issued. Most boards still have their original paper wrap or connecting thread, but I cannot guarantee that you will receive either with your boards. Some of them have come apart over the years, and some seem to have come straight from the factory like that. However, if this is important to you, simply ask when you buy them and I will do my best to make sure you get what you want! These boards will come in a small bubble mailer, sandwiched between two pieces of cardboard to keep them rigid. If you would like them sent a different way, please let me know before buying. -------- I am a longtime collector of Cold War military equipment. However, as the need to pay for grad school looms on the horizon, I am now selling off a good portion of my collection. Follow me to see my latest listings, and grab some fascinating history (and other stuff) at great prices! I am a collector more than a salesman, and so I'm quite happy to do whatever I can to ensure that you get what you're looking for. I'm always happy to combine shipping! Just ask and I'll get the cost figured out! Unfortunately I can't really send these abroad, as eBay takes a cut from the shipping cost also and I would therefore lose money.
