Description: St Tarcisius Holy Medal on 24" continuous Stainless steel neckchain Brand New 7/8" Italian nickel silver medal with a great image of St Tarcisius, a young man, probably in his early teens, who was a martyr for the Holy Eucharist and is the patron saint of girls and boys making their First Communion as well as altar servers. The medal has a nice shiny finish with oxidation added to show up the details. The saint is shown clutching the Eucharist to his chest and holding a palm to denote his martyrdom. On the back are the words "Pray for Us" with a beautiful symbol of the Blessed Sacrament: the pierced Heart of Jesus surrounded by thorns with a cross and flames on top. Medal comes on a stainless steel continuous neckchain that is a full 24" long, which means you can slip it easily on and off over most size heads without worrying about a clasp that might break! Perfect for men and boys but great for women, too, especially if you like the longer length like I do. Comes gift boxed and with a gift bag, tissue paper and our own full color St Tarcisius prayer card, plus a beautiful Blessed Sacrament prayer card. St Tarcisius lived in the 3rd century AD and although he was only a teen, may have been a deacon and probably served at the early Christian Mass held in the Catacombs of Rome. He was carrying some consecrated Hosts to the sick when he was accosted by some youths and older people who were non-believers. They wanted what the boy was carrying so carefully, and when he refused to give it up, he was beaten to death. St Tarcisius is the patron saint of First Communicants, and altar servers. The prayer cards which come with our rosaries, medals and pictures are home-made, created using a "greeting card" program on a computer and printed in full color on nice quality paper.
